Bergamo is an Italian city in northeast of Milan, in the Lombardy region . ORTO BOTANICO DI BERGAMO LORENZO ROTA is a botanical garden located at the top of a long stairway from Scaletta di cole Aperto , Bergamo , Lombardy, Italy . It was established in 1972 , with modest botanical garden features of over 900 species of plant . The 2400 square metre garden are here to over 1200 types of plants , the majority of which in micro-habitats which replicate or imitate their natural environments .
The gardens are only accessible by foot from staircase of 141 steps offering a unique panorama with sweeping views over the upper Town’s rooftops and monuments and the first offshoots of Bergamo’s Alpine foothills . The botanical Garden is an experience that leaves its mark on the soil . It’s advisable to visit this garden at warm seasons .
